In Virgie Collier Speights file, a letter from Neva Thompson to Exa Speights Wunnes, March 8, 1951 - appears that Sarah was the head of her household in the 1790 North Carolina Census with one woman (probably daughter) and 1 slave.

The Speights name caught my attention, because during the early 1950s, I worked in the office of Judge Carlos G. Speights' campaign headquarters, Baton Rouge, LA, when he ran for Governer of the State. Unfortunately, he lost, but I believe he was a fine gentleman who would have made an excellent governor.
